She was introduced to Pacquiao when the boxer was promoting his fight with Ricky Hatton in the UK.

Pacquiao offered to help Madonna return to the country, find work, and still be with her kids whom she has not seen for more than two years. Madonna expressed her gratitude to the Filipino boxing champion for paving the way for her to see her two children again.
